Joseph Rubin

is the curator of the Ted Lewis Museum in Circleville, Ohio.  He was appointed to this position in 2012 upon his discovery of Ted Lewis’ original orchestra arrangements in the basement of the Museum.  Mr. Rubin spent four years cataloguing, organizing and storing archival collections and renovating the museum which debuted in June 2017 as part of the 40th Anniversary Festival.  Ted’s original arrangements were restored by Mr. Rubin for use by the new Ted Lewis Orchestra, of which he is the founder and director.  A native of Canton, Ohio, Mr. Rubin resides in New York City and is in demand as a director, conductor and silent film accompanist. Mr. Rubin is also the founder and executive director of the Canton Comic Opera Co., a non-profit theatre company based in Canton, Ohio, dedicated to the preservation and performance of American operettas. He has restored, directed and conducted over a dozen historic American operettas, creating new critical editions from archival performance materials.  His favorite concert recreations include Victor Herbert’s 22nd Regiment Band 1897 Inaugural Concert for Canton’s own President William McKinley and An Evening with Sigmund Romberg with a 40-piece orchestra and vocal soloists.
